Hi. I'm trying to get into either CMU SCS or IS.

SATs:
CR: 760
Math: 740
W: 730
US Hist: 770
Math 2: Unknown
Chem: Unknown

UW GPA: 3.75
W GPA: 3.94
Class rank: 14 out of 57.
It's worth noting that I did a LOT better during my Junior year than during my sophomore and freshman years. Is it true that CMU ignores freshman year? Also, I go to a pretty competitive school. Nothing like Stuyvesant, but probably in the top 5%.

ECs/stuff:
PHP developer for several complex open-source projects.
Senior class president.
1 season of sports per year, no real distinction.
Community services here and there. Less than 100 hours total.
Several distinctions in school such as #1 in AP US History and #1 in AP Lang/Comp

APs:
US History: 5
Lang an Comp: 5
Comp Sci: taking this year
Calculus AB: taking this year
English Literature: taking this year
World History: self-studing and taking this year.

My essays will probably be a decent clip above average for CMU. My teacher recommendations will probably be pretty good as well.

Thanks a lot for reading this! I hope I didn't leave out anything important. I very much appreciate your response.

I just got a letter from this university asking to go to one of their fall 2009 info sessions, and I was just wondering what were my chances to get accepted there.

I have a 4.35 GPA, and I take all the AP courses available at my high school.

I also am 50% Navajo Indian and have a census number that qualifies me as a minority.

I play the #1 spot on my varsity high school tennis team. In the sport that I am better at, ice hockey, I am a new member of the Capital District Selects, a team of the EJHL, a Tier III Junior A Ice Hockey Team.

The clubs that I am a member of at my California high school include the Key Club, the California Scholastic Foundation, and the Ping Pong Club. I am also the founder of the Conservation of Animals Club at my school that is sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation as well as the Mule Deer Foundation.

I volunteered for a 60 hours in my local hospital. I also volunteered to pick up litter in our local river every year for three years. I also volunteered to help out my high school tennis camp, as well as a camp to influence children from poorer areas in South LA to achieve better things in life.

Thank you for reading this extremely long profile.

I do Track and Nordic Skiing but I'm not particularly good at either. I take three APs and an honors class. My Junior year GPA is far better than my Freshman or Sophomore ones and my Senior GPA will be high up there too. I'm going to be Senior class president next year.

Thank you :)
